2008 Surrey Countryman Side By Side Event

Another successful clay shoot organised by Guildford Gun Club.

The Guildford & District Gun Club organised a Charity Clay Shoot at the Surrey County Agricultural Show at Loseley Park. The sun shone all day and the shoot was attend by over 150 shooters.

The main competition was a 50 bird sporting shoot for ladies, men & juniors, which also incorperated the Surrey CPSA Countyman Side by Side Event. 28 Side By Side entrants in total. Top Gun was A Childs on 37x50 Alf Slade and Michael Raplel also shot 37 but defaulted by leaving the ground. Top none Surrey Side by Side shooter was C Wood with 41x50.

There was a 40 bird flush competition and a have a go stand for people wishing to try their hand at clay shooting under the watchful eye of very experienced instructors.

The shoot was attended by two Great Britain trap shooters, Surrey Shooter Bradley Davis and Commonwealth Games double gold medalist and Sussex Shooter Charlotte Kerwood, who has just recently returned from the Beijing Olympics where she competed in the womens Olympic Trap event.

The Winner of the Open Class after a shoot off for high gun was Ian White with a score of 43x50, also on the same score was Keith Finday, David Isted and Bradley Davis, unfortunately Bradley was not around for the shoot off.

The Ladies was jointly won by last year's runner up Donna Harris and Charlotte Kerwood, neither were around for the shoot off.

The Junior Class was won by Sam Crump.

A great day was had by all, and the Guildford Gun Club were very pleased with the amount of people that turned up to shoot on this new site on the Loseley Park Estate and look forward to seeing even more clay shooters at next years event.
