2009 Surrey Sportrap Championship Southdown SGC 4th May 2009 Fifteen Surrey shooters entered the County Sportrap Championship at Southdown SGC on Sunday 4th May. Dave Peckham had set four good layouts with the third and fourth layouts including some particularly testing birds. England sporting team member Aex Cobb was looking on a roll with scores of 21,23,24 but a Muppet 15 on his final loyout quickly ended his chances. The tough fourth layout also befouled challenges from Tom Hicks, Tim Heywood, Adrian Berry and eventual County runner-up Danny Smith. Jonathan Ward reinforced his family's strong shooting tradition on a rare day out clay shooting by shooting a solid 21,22,23, plus an excellent 23 on the last layout to finish Surrey Champion with 89, only a handful of targets behind the overall high gun George Digweed. MJ Holmes shot well to take the Veteran's title on 75, five targets ahead of Doug Millard and D Brown, and Jack Tucker found his best form when the going was toughest to win the Junior Championship title
