Down the Line (Report by Stephen Tucker) Sunday 26th July 2009
A good turnout of 12 Surrey shooters braved the windy overcast conditions at the NCSC, Bisley, for this year’s Down the Line competition. Paul Harrison set the pace for the first round with Alex Bull, Craig Flowers and Charlie Martin close behind. But Charlie Martin decided this was going to be his day and shot an excellent 75 straight with one barrel to finish on 97/290 and the County Championship title.
The runner up position was won by Alex Bull after Paul Harrison had a mare on the third round.
Jack Tucker and Roger Fox shot steady all day with both finishing on 274. That gave Jack Tucker the Junior title for the third year running and Roger Fox the Veterans title.
Congratulations must go to Corinne Bull, who was shooting in her first Surrey County competition and secured the Ladies title.
Thank you to Barry Desborough for putting together this year’s event and to all the referees.
Congratulations to Charlie Martin who will be presented with the trophy at next year’s AGM. Scores and photo, below,
