2010 Surrey Clubman ESP Championship Bisley Shooting Ground Sunday 15th August Bisley Shooting Ground played host to Surrey’s combined Clubman and Side by Side Championship held on 15 August. We were blessed with near perfect shooting weather. Warm, still and with a good selection of targets. Unfortunately an unexpectedly early last entry imposed by Bisley SG meant some Surrey members suffered a wasted journey. The committee would like to apologise to those affected and will take steps to ensure this situation doesn’t occur again.A reduced entry of just 11 Surrey members therefore competed the s/s event. Some were regular s/s users, whilst others dusted down or borrowed guns just to “have a go”. At least one vowed never to try it again! As always however some rose to the occasion and Andrew Childs triumphed with a superb 90 ex 100 to take the Surrey County title, closely followed by the committee’s own Steve Mansfield (85) and Daniel Johnson (83).The Webley and Scott Trophy awarded to the highest placed non Surrey shooter was retained by Chris Wood of Cranleigh Fieldsports with a score of 80.The third element of the day was the Surrey Clubman title, whose winner is taken from B-class shooters and below. Winner this year was Nick Carter. Thank you to all those who turned up to support this Surrey County event. Congratulations to up and coming shooter Nick Carter the winner of the 2010 Surrey CPSA Clubman.
(Photo courtesy of Nick's shooting buddy Paul Poulter) Nick shot a very impressive 88x100 on a very challenging course set on Cottesloe Heath at Bisley Shooting Ground. Nick has recently spent some time at Ridgewood Shooting School with Surrey's number shot Alex Cobb, which has resulted in some very impressive scores at a number of shoots.
