2008 Surrey Olympic Skeet Championship NCSC Bisley Sunday 25th May 2008. If it comes as a big surprise to see the Surrey report for Olympic Skeet being written by Adrian Berry I can assure you it comes as an even bigger surprise to me. Bearing in mind that it is only the second time I have ever shot the discipline and the other time was three years ago. I was the only Surrey Committee member that turned up so it has been left to me. I found myself in squad 1 on peg 1 so I had to ask the referee on ever station what the sequence was. Any way after a number of gun warnings it seemed to be going well with a 21 on the first layout even managing to hit the low house on station eight with my 32 inch sporter but I knew it wouldn’t last only managing a 14 on the next layout followed by two 18’s. The weather wasn’t very good to start with but the rain and clouds soon disappeared to leave us with a very pleasant day. Once again a dismal turn out from the Surrey Shooters with only two Ladies, two seniors and one Veteran making the effort. Pip Watson shot consistently to end up with a winning score of 77 making her the Surrey County Champion and the Surrey Lady Champion. Katy Poulsom had three good rounds, struggled a little as I did on the second round but still shot an excellent score of 73 to become runner up. A big thanks to Barry Desbrough and his staff at the NCSC who all worked very hard to put on the County Championship for Surrey, Sussex, Greater London and Kent.
